Inexpensive Ways to Decorate a Child’s Bedroom

What did your bedroom look like when you were a kid? I’ll take a guess… it wasn’t exactly creative, bold and uber cool? Well, things have changed! Nowadays it’s not difficult to create a colourful and fun space for your kids and requires only a little imagination. The main thing is to create the right atmosphere – which doesn’t have to be expensive!
 
Kids are all about imagination! They want to have fun and play, so this is exactly what you should have in mind when creating a space for them. From toddlers to teenagers, children want a special space to call their own. When redecorating their room, don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild! Think back to all the things you loved to do as a kid – exploring, making dens, playing cowboys and indians, playing families, creating puppet shows, you remember don’t you??
 
We suggest to go for bold in areas that are easy to change, as the room you create for your toddler, you’ll likely need to redo in just a few years as they go into school and again into their teens. With that in mind, here’s our top tips on creating the perfect space for your little ones: 

Firstly, go for a simple bold colour on the walls. The colour used here is called Cherished Gold by Dulux UK. We particularly like them as not only do they offer a huge range of colours, but if you can’t find the colour you want, they can create one for you colour matching just about anything from a t-shirt to a coffee mug! Amazing!
 
Here at A Little Arty, we love a wall mural, but whilst wall murals are incredibly fun, some people may not have the time, patience (or skills!) to do one, so to inject some zest we suggest to go for plenty of frames with child friendly prints instead.

But if a mural is what you are after, then select one wall and go BOLD. For those who are creative you could try your hand with a hand-painted mural or or if you’re not much of an artist (or you just can’t be arsed!) a fab wall paper or wall stickers can look just as good. This will be a focal point of the room, making it fun, but also easily redone in the future than an entire room. Change up any doorknobs on wardrobes or chests of drawers with some more interesting ones. Not only can these look fab, but they are low costs and can be changed very easily later on.

Kids rooms are always messy and no parent wants to spend their time putting everything away every night, so make it easy for yourself and opt for some bold patterned storage baskets to throw everything in without any fuss. #TahDah

To keep it stylish, don’t go too crazy with all different colours and multiple pattern, just keep to a select few. Match up those storage baskets with bed covers or some bean bags and if you’re creating a room for a baby or toddler, you can even match a play mat up too!

Every child loves a den at some stage, so rather than have your entire linen cupboard pulled out and dragged around the house, take things into your own hands and opt for a slightly more stylish and a hell of a lot less messy teepee. Teepee’s are hours of entertainment, a great place to store some toys and they can look rather nice too! #Winner
